The Sam Thorpe Trust Fund aims to provide small discretionary grants to young people from Penrith and the surrounding area (within a 10 mile radius), who are under the age of 18. The Trust looks to support projects that achieve one or more of the following:
- Enable young people to take part in educational opportunities as part of a school or youth group.
- Enable young people to participate in extra-curricular opportunities that support and inspire their ongoing engagement and development.
- Support additional costs related to ongoing educational, sporting and creative activity.
Previous projects that the Sam Thorpe Trust Fund has supported include:
- National Youth Theatre Summer Schools
- Volunteer work in Ugandan Schools
- Volunteer work in Madagascar
- School Field Trips in UK and overseas
- Sports Trips
- Purchase of T-shirts for a Youth Choir
- Operation Raleigh
